About This Product

Lahan Cosplay Contact Lenses

Thin round glasses sit right over the iris. You know the risk. Dark violet can look rich on its own, then go flat black behind clear metal rims. My worry was simple: would the colour still read as violet, or just a dark hole with a smile under it?

A dark violet that has to stay violet

These are not a candy purple. Obsidian purple is a dark violet with a soft purple inner glow near the centre. It sits deep, close to the shadow of a real dark iris. That inner glow is what saves the read. It gives the eye a little life when the outer tone is almost blackberry-dark. Through the round glasses, the colour still has a direction. It does not turn into a flat disc. If you want the dark eye without the lens reading as black, this is the balance.

Pigment depth, iris fibre, and a soft edge

Pigment density makes or breaks this tone. Too thin, and the dark violet goes grey at the edge. Too heavy, and the iris looks printed. The iris fibre stays visible through the colour, and the outer edge blends out soft. The centre ring is kept quiet. The pupil area stays clear and open, not boxed in. A hard ring would read as a sticker. This one settles into the eye.

Left and right lenses are matched for colour depth so both eyes read at the same value. That sounds small until one eye reads colder than the other. I checked both side by side and the pair held together. Obsidian purple is dark enough for the character, but the soft inner glow keeps it from going black in normal indoor wear.

Comfort for a long robe day

A dark lens this dense can feel noticeable at first. I put them in early, before wig styling and before the robe, so my eyes had time to settle. The first ten minutes felt like any new pair. After that I stopped thinking about them. The robe day ran long, with walking, talking, and standing in character. The lenses stayed comfortable enough that I forgot them.

The robe has a wine-red inner layer, so the violet does not fight the costume. With the chestnut waves and loose front strands, the glasses sit around the eye instead of hiding it. That small sly smile works better when the eyes have a little warmth behind the dark.

One quick camera check

Before the con, I take one close shot in flat indoor light. The violet has to stay violet in the file, and the round glasses have to sit over it without turning the iris into a dark hole. That is the whole test, and the camera performance I need.

The review we hear most

“I wore the obsidian purple pair for a full convention day under round glasses. They kept their shape, both eyes matched, and the dark tone still looked purple up close instead of going black. I did not have to baby them.”
